I had been completely bald on the top of my head for more than twenty years. Over the years I visited almost every hair clinic in the Netherlands and several abroad, and every time I was told that I was too bald and had too little donor area for a successful treatment. I had given up hope and had my head tattooed using the Micro Hair Pigmentation (MHP) method. But in the end this didn’t give me the satisfaction I was looking for, because you could clearly see it was not real.

Through an internet search I came across Hairtec and read on their website that they were able to achieve good results using an alternative donor area. During the consultation the consultant told me I was more difficult to treat, but certainly not impossible for them. It would therefore be a combination of the hair on the back of my head and my chest area. I have more than enough of that, so I was fine with it. Her honest account and clear explanation made me very motivated to give it a try. I didn’t have much to lose after all.

On the treatment day I was warmly welcomed by the friendly team and was talked through the process step by step throughout the day. In the end the treatment itself lasted 11 hours. By then both the team and I had had enough, haha.

During the aftercare period I barely noticed anything from the donor areas on the back of my head or on my chest. The first night was a little odd sleeping on my back, but with the neck pillow it went fine afterwards.

It’s now a year after the hair transplant and I personally call it a small “miracle”, because I honestly had not expected such a good result. I can no longer see any trace of the hair transplant on the back of my head or on my chest, so the team has done truly excellent work. I am therefore incredibly grateful to the Hairtec team for their great work and very much wanted to take part in this interview.
